Elemnop opened the door. Honestly a lot of great filipino musicians not just rappers would not be able to be heard at that level if it wasn’t for Elemnop. They for sure are a major influence on me and why I do my music. My cousin, Nino, used to bring me and my brother to shows and give us Elemnop music. I remember just hella wanting to be like my cousin and Elemnop. I knew every word to every song and would recite the lyrics in the crowd and the crazy thing is, I wasn’t alone. I saw a lot of other people mouthing off the lyrics too. The challenge of being a filipino MC began to break because of them. They touched on issues of the world and they had fun. I am honored to have worked with them in my career as a musician. I stumbled upon their mixtapes on my hard drive and it reminds me of how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go.
